Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MMSD Volunteer Management System ("VMS"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using the system.

2. Volunteer Eligibility

To participate in the Madison Metropolitan School District Volunteer Program, you must:

• Be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent if under 18)
• Successfully complete a background check
• Complete all required training programs
• Provide accurate and truthful information in your application
• Comply with all program policies and procedures

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Keeping your contact information current and accurate
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Volunteer Code of Conduct

As a volunteer, you agree to:

• Treat all visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures
• Represent Madison Metropolitan School District professionally
• Not engage in harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior
• Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts or provide advance notice of cancellation

5. Hours and Recognition

Volunteer hours must be logged accurately and honestly. Falsification of hours is grounds for immediate termination from the program. All hours are subject to verification by program staff.

6. Liability and Waiver

By participating in volunteer activities, you acknowledge that:

• Volunteer work may involve physical activity and outdoor conditions
• You voluntarily assume all risks associated with volunteer activities
• MMSD is not liable for personal injury or property damage except in cases of gross negligence
• You will follow all safety instructions provided by staff

7. Photography and Media

By volunteering, you grant Madison Metropolitan School District permission to photograph, video record, and use your image and likeness for promotional, educational, and informational purposes without compensation.

8. Termination

Madison Metropolitan School District reserves the right to terminate your volunteer status at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms of Service or program policies
• Failure to complete required trainings
• Background check disqualification
• Inappropriate conduct or behavior
• Extended inactivity (no volunteer hours for 12+ months)

Termination decisions may be appealed to the Volunteer Program Director within 30 days.

9. System Use

You agree not to:

• Use the system for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the system
• Interfere with or disrupt the system's functionality
• Share your account credentials with others
• Upload malicious code or content

10. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the VMS are owned by MMSD and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without permission.

11. Modifications

Madison Metropolitan School District reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the system after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin and the State of Wisconsin ordinances. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Wisconsin.
